Indian cricketers who are expected to play in the 2023 ODI World Cup will participate in the IPL, according to head coach Rahul Dravid, unless there are injury concerns and the workload of seniors like Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma is being managed.
By BCCI's new policy, the NCA and franchisees will keep an eye on key players' workloads during this year's IPL in sight of the 50-over World Cup that will be played at home in October-November.
While talking to PTI before the third ODI game against the Black Caps, head coach Rahul Dravid said, “Workload management is something that is a part and parcel of the game today. We keep reviewing these things. You will call the break we have given to some of our boys (Rohit, Virat, KL) in the T20 series as workload management.”
He further added "targeted" players for the ODI World Cup will be playing the IPL as it will help them assess their T20 skills."
After experiencing a long downturn, Kohli found his form again in last year's Asia Cup and continued it at the T20 World Cup, but the legendary batsman, skipper Rohit, and KL Rahul have not appeared in any T20 matches since the title event in Australia.
